Parents- did you know that when asked about the most influential factor in teen sexual decision making, teens reported that THEIR PARENTS were the single most influential factor?

Not Convinced?

According to the National Longitudinal Study on Adolescent Health, parents who are "connected" with their children are significantly more likely to have adolescents who delay sexual initiation.

The study also found that adolescents whose parents disapprove of teen sexual activity and contraception are significantly more likely to delay having sex.

However, many parents are embarrassed and uncomfortable about talking to thier kids about sex.

Parents in this day and age often claim to feel helpless as their children develop their own attitudes and values about sex.

A recent study showed that 89% of parents surveyed said they believe parents should talk to their kids about sex, but often don't know what to say or how to say it.

Fortunately, there is help to equip parents for the task of communicating with their children.

It is important to remember that even when teens may not appear to be listening, they often take the information and consider it in greater depth on their own.

Teens WANT and NEED their parents involvement. It is crucial that parents take intentional steps to communicate their values to their children, especially when it comes to sex.
